Primary Specialization: Native Android and iOS Application Performance Testing
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated, hands-on Junior Native Mobile Performance Testing Engineer with experience in Apache JMeter, BlazeMeter, and BrowserStack to support performance testing of enterprise-native Android and iOS applications.
This position focuses specifically on native mobile applications installed and executed on Android and iOS devices—not mobile websites, mobile browsers, or responsive web applications.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience developing and executing performance test scripts, working with REST APIs, supporting cloud-based load tests, and automating native mobile application scenarios on real devices.
The engineer will work alongside senior performance engineers, mobile developers, and infrastructure teams to execute performance tests, collect and analyze results, identify performance issues, and contribute to improving native mobile application responsiveness, stability, and scalability.
This is a hands-on technical position requiring foundational performance testing knowledge, strong scripting and troubleshooting capabilities, and a willingness to develop advanced mobile performance engineering skills.
Key Responsibilities
Native Android and iOS Application Performance Testing
Assist in developing and executing performance tests for native Android and iOS applications.
Perform performance validation of installed native mobile applications using Android APK and iOS IPA packages.
Execute test scenarios covering application launch, screen navigation, user interactions, and critical business transactions.
Measure and document application response times, transaction completion times, and overall responsiveness.
Support testing across different Android and iOS devices, operating system versions, and network conditions.
Collect application logs, execution results, and available device performance metrics.
Assist in identifying performance issues related to mobile applications, network connectivity, APIs, and backend services.
Execute test scenarios and analyze results under normal and elevated backend load conditions.
JMeter and BlazeMeter Performance Testing
Develop, maintain, and execute JMeter scripts for REST API and HTTP(S) performance testing.
Implement basic to intermediate parameterization, correlation, assertions, JSON extraction, and test-data management.
Configure and execute load tests using BlazeMeter under guidance from senior engineers.
Support load, stress, spike, and endurance testing activities.
Monitor and analyze response times, throughput, transactions per second, error rates, and response-time percentiles.
Troubleshoot script execution errors, authentication failures, and test-data issues.
Maintain reusable performance testing scripts and documentation.
BrowserStack Native Mobile Application Testing
Execute native Android and iOS application tests using BrowserStack real-device infrastructure.
Develop, maintain, and execute mobile automation scripts using Appium or equivalent automation frameworks.
Automate native application interactions, including login, screen navigation, user actions, and business workflows.
Configure and execute test scenarios across different physical Android and iOS devices.
Support parallel execution of BrowserStack native application automation and JMeter/BlazeMeter backend load tests.
Capture native application execution timings, logs, and available device diagnostics.
Assist senior engineers in correlating real-device application responsiveness with backend API performance.
Important: Candidates must have experience with or demonstrate practical knowledge of native mobile application testing. Experience limited to testing websites through mobile browsers is not sufficient.
Performance Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting
Monitor application and infrastructure performance using tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, AppDynamics, Splunk, or comparable platforms.
Collect and analyze performance test execution results, logs, and monitoring data.
Assist senior engineers with performance bottleneck investigation and root cause analysis.
Document performance defects with supporting evidence and reproducible test conditions.
Prepare test execution summaries, performance metrics, charts, and status reports.
Work with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to validate fixes and execute performance regression tests.
Participate in Agile sprint activities and support in-sprint performance testing.

Technical Screening Questions
Native Mobile Application Testing
What is the difference between testing a native Android/iOS application and testing a website in a mobile browser? Describe your experience testing installed APK or IPA applications.
JMeter Performance Scripting
Explain how you would create a JMeter script to test a REST API used by a native mobile application. How would you handle authentication, parameterization, and dynamic response values?
BlazeMeter Test Execution
Describe your experience executing performance tests using BlazeMeter. How do you configure a test, monitor its execution, and interpret response times, throughput, and error rates?
BrowserStack and Appium
How would you use BrowserStack and Appium to execute a native Android or iOS application test? What types of application interactions and execution metrics would you capture?
Performance Testing and Analysis
If a native mobile application becomes slow while a JMeter load test is running against its backend APIs, what information would you collect to help determine the cause of the performance degradation?
Senior vs. Junior — Responsibility comparison

Recommended screening priorities — Junior role
Recommendation: For this junior position, emphasize demonstrated JMeter scripting capability and actual native mobile application testing experience. Candidates should have practical exposure to BlazeMeter, BrowserStack, and Appium, but they should not be expected to independently architect an enterprise performance framework.
The key hiring distinction is that the Senior Engineer designs and leads the native mobile performance testing solution, while the Junior Engineer develops scripts, executes tests, analyzes initial results, and maintains automation within that solution.
