QA Engineer – Performance & Load Testing

• Design and execute load, stress, spike, endurance, scalability, and performance tests .
• Develop realistic load-test scenarios across HTTP/REST APIs, backend services, event-driven systems, and WebSocket traffic .
• Create workload models including ramp-up, steady-state, peak, and burst traffic patterns.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated performance test scripts and frameworks.
• Analyze key performance metrics including:
• Latency and response-time percentiles (P50/P90/P95/P99)
• Throughput / transactions per second
• Error rates
• Request and message processing rates
• Connection and response times
• Resource utilization
• Identify performance bottlenecks across application services, APIs, databases, messaging/event systems, network, and infrastructure .
• Perform root-cause analysis using application logs, metrics, traces, and monitoring data.
• Validate system behavior under high-volume event and WebSocket traffic , including connection stability and message-processing performance.
• Establish performance baselines, benchmarks, SLAs, and acceptance criteria.
• Compare performance results across releases and identify performance regressions.
• Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues.
• Prepare detailed performance test reports with findings, bottlenecks, trends, and recommendations.
• Support performance testing as part of CI/CD and release validation processes.

Required Skills

• 4+ years of experience in QA, Performance Testing, Load Testing, or Performance Engineering .
• Strong hands-on experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, k6, Locust, or similar.
• Strong experience testing REST/HTTP APIs under load.
• Experience with WebSocket and/or event-driven traffic testing .
• Strong understanding of:
• Latency and response-time percentiles
• Throughput and TPS
• Error rates
• Concurrent users/connections
• Load, stress, spike, and endurance testing
• Scalability and capacity testing
• Experience identifying and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks and root causes .
• Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, asynchronous processing, and messaging/event-based architectures.
• Experience with performance monitoring/observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic, or similar .
• Strong scripting/programming skills in Python, Java, JavaScript, or similar .
• Experience working with SQL/databases and understanding database performance.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile/Scrum methodologies .
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kafka or other event-streaming platforms .
• Experience testing high-volume real-time or event-driven applications.
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP .
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and containerized applications.
• Experience integrating performance tests into Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps .
• Knowledge of distributed tracing and observability using OpenTelemetry .
