Senior QA Developer

Still here? Okay then…

This job might be for you if you’ve got…

• 3+ years of QA development experience. You’ve built, maintained, and improved automated testing strategies, and you can tell us what worked, what didn’t, and what you changed along the way.
• Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills. You’re comfortable getting into the code, writing reliable automated tests, and coming back six months later without wondering what on earth you were thinking.
• Hands-on experience with Cypress, Playwright, or similar testing frameworks. You know how to investigate unreliable tests, improve coverage, and keep a growing test suite running smoothly.
• The ability to build testing frameworks that can grow with the business. You think about how everything fits together, how easy it is to maintain, and whether it’ll still do the job as things get more complex. You’ll put that thinking to work across our Shopify Hydrogen storefront and backend middleware.
• Experience integrating automated tests into cloud-based CI/CD pipelines. You know how to get the right checks running at the right time, so developers get useful feedback quickly and releases move forward with fewer headaches.
• A good handle on quality reporting. Test coverage, execution times, pipeline stability, recurring failures, and bugs reaching production. You can use those numbers to explain how things are going and where we need to improve.
• Experience testing APIs and investigating performance. API contract testing, load testing, and browser developer tools should be familiar territory. When something slows down or stops behaving, you know where to start looking.
• A few extra tools in your kit. Experience with Python, PHP, Figma, Storybook, or Jest would earn you a few bonus points. You don’t need the full set, so tell us what you’ve worked with.

Now, time to be honest: is this really you?

If you’re nodding your head and feeling that flutter of excitement, then we can’t wait to meet you.

Other Qualities You’ll Need

At AlgaeCal, we’re going to insist that you have these 3 qualities:

• You’re humble — you put the team and others’ needs ahead of your own
• You’re hungry to learn more
• You’re people smart — in the sense that you’re a great teammate

The truth is, if you don’t have these qualities, you won’t last long at AlgaeCal. So if you’re missing one of them, be honest. Save yourself a lot of headaches and skip to a job posting that is a better fit for you.

What Will You Earn?
